Censorship is wrong -- plain and simple. It's wrong in this case, and it's wrong when well-meaning people attempt to ban books in public or school libraries because they find them offensive. Freedom of speech is freedom of speech -- for everyone. I wonder if people will ever figure out that they just don't have to read a book if it offends them. They don't have to decide for the rest of us.

The fact is, if the book had been published the author's life would have been in serious danger without Spellberg's help. Spellberg is not the problem. The problem is people who think God wants them to kill people in order to defend God's "honour."

Gary, prayer is still a very hard one for me. I too long for the days when I went before God convinced that he would respond.

These days I'm not so sure. I'm not sure what purpose prayer has or whether or not it ever really changes anything. I know people firsthand who have had the "specific amount of money in their mailbox" experience, and while I try not to discount it, I also try not to believe that I personally have not had this experience simply because I have not prayed for it. Get what I mean?

I don't know...the problem with seeing answered prayer is the seeing of unanswered prayer. God might grant me a parking spot or a productive meeting, but won't save the life of a 12 year old...

Poverty of spirit is an interesting point....but then it doesn't say the poor in spirit will have answered prayers but WILL have the kingdom of heaven. So I don't know.

I don't know much at all.

Was ist denn die Alternative zu einer wie auch immer gearteten Zusammenarbeit mit der Linkspartei? Soll die SPD denn die Augen vor der Realität verschließen und ignorieren, dass sich eine Partei links der SPD etabliert hat? Da die hessische FDP sich nicht bewegen wird und zu einer Ampel nicht bereit ist, lauten die Alternativen Große Koalition oder Neuwahlen. Dass die Große Koalition ebenfalls ein Wortbruch wäre, genau wie die schwarz-grüne Koalition in Hamburg, wird ja leider von den Medien total ignoriert.

Früher oder später wird es wohl zu Neuwahlen mit einem anschließenden fulminanten Wahlsieg Roland Kochs kommen. Dann ist die SPD wieder da, wo Teile der SPD offensichtlich hinwollen: raus aus der Verantwortung. Lieber mal Opposition machen und ja keine gewagte Kooperation eingehen. Die Grünen waren bei ihrer Gründung ebenso verachtet - nachdem die Koalition in Hessen erstmal stand, krähte nach ein paar Monaten kein Hahn mehr danach.

Dass die Hamburg-CDU des Ole von Beust einfach mal so eine Koalition mit der rechtspopulistischen Schill-Partei eingegangen ist, weiß ja heute auch fast niemand mehr.

Was hätteste zu Konservativen, die zu den Hoch-Zeiten der Reps so argumentiert hätten, gesagt? Immerhin konnten CDU/CSU der Versuchung, die Rechten durch Zusammenarbeit zu legitimieren und aufzuwerten widerstehen.

Die SPD versagt bezüglich der Linkspopulisten nun kläglich, nicht zum ersten Mal. Für die letzte Chance zur Macht nutzt man auch die Nachfolgepartei der SED (oder die nutzen die SPD, however). Bei Neuwahlen würde Frau XY ja verlieren, wie Du richtig bemerkt hast.

Ein trauriges Schauspiel, keine Uraufführung, aber das erste Mal im Westen.

Hut ab vor Sozialdemokraten wie Dagmar Metzger oder Wolfgang Clement, die sich dem entgegen stellen.

Im Übrigen ist es auch so unsinnig, die Linkspartei und die Republikaner zu vergleichen. Eine Partei, die in 5 von 16 Bundesländern mit starken Fraktionen vertreten ist, teilweise die zweitstärkste Fraktion darstellt und in vielen, auch größeren, Kommunen sogar deutlich vorn liegt, ist eine erheblich größere strategische Bedrohung für die Sozis, als es die Reps je für die Union waren. Vom Inhalt braucht man da gar nicht zu reden.

Zum ursprünglichen Beitrag:

Die Leute, von denen Du sprichst, würden aber in der FDP durchaus passen, und waren vor allem deswegen in ihren eigenen Parteien unerwünscht, weil sie eine wirtschaftsliberale Minderheitenposition vertreten haben. Über diese Leute könnten die Marktradikalen innerhalb der FDP vielleicht neue Wählergruppen gewinnen, die bisher aus dem einen oder anderen Grund andere Parteien gewählt haben.

Und ja, Du hast recht: Durch die Westerwellerisierung hat die FDP es völlig versäumt, ansonsten noch Politiker mit Profil aufzubauen und zu erhalten. Insbesondere auf den Kanten, die Westerwelle trotz all seiner Quirligkeit nicht abdecken konnte.

Ah les Danette (choco pour ma part) alors ça en effet ça manque, les crème La Laitière aussi, mais cela dit j'ai vu du progrès en 2 ans : y a pas de liégeois encore mais des crèmes, mousses et fondants au chocolat si (regarde bien) !

Le chocolat noir à pâtisser et le cacao amer je ne sais pas car ma mère m'en envoie régulièrement en fait (et Monsieur prend du Nesquik donc...)

Niveau céréales ce qui manque c'est ceux au chocolat, y a quasi rien (bon j'ai trouvé un Métro où y a mes Jordan's choco c'est déjà ça, mais y a pas de Chocapic ou les All bran choco).

Et y a pas non plus de BN, Pitch et autres Doowap pour le pti déj donc on s'en ramène (ou fait ramener) à chaque fois aussi !

Pour le vin et le fromage il y a du choix c'est juste que c'est plus cher (mais on boit très peu de vin de toutes façons, c'est plus le prix du Malibu qui m'embête ).

Mais ici on trouve d'autres choses qu'il n'y a pas en France (les bagels par exemple).

Et puis l'essentiel, c'est qu'il y ait du NUTELLA

Et je sais pas si Marlene a verifie de son cote, mais nous on importe le Nutella depuis qu'on s'est rendu compte que c'etait pas vraiment la meme recette aux US.

Mets un pot francais a cote d'un pot local, et tu verras la difference! (pas toi Delphine, puisque si je me rappelle bien, tu n'aimes pas le chocolat)

I have never understood some of the ideas surrounding the bible. The canon for instance...not only are we to believe that the authors of the bible were divinely directed, but also all those who were involved in determining the complete canon of the bible.

I have to walk on eggshells here considering my recent admissions that I don't even read it anymore...but I think when not taken literally but understood as a book chronicling the evolution of human understanding of the relationship we are to have with our Creator, we learn something...we often do see (esp in the OT) God taking on the attitudes and personalities of the people who were writing about him...because that was the limit of their understanding of him at the time.

God-breathed is the way I choose to look at it too.

Moi qui suis la première à crier haut et fort que je n'aime pas la chaleur, en fait, je viens de me rendre compte d'une chose: si je l'aime, mais comme tu la décris, en vacances. Comment faire croire qu'on buzz à mort sur internet… J'ai du mal à comprendre: est-ce qu'il existe encore des marketeurs qui ne réalisent pas que pour résoudre un "mystère", le premier réflexe est Google ? Est-ce un effet escompté ? Mais alors, pourquoi est-ce que Elle marche dans ce jeu en relayant le faux buzz ? Faudrait qu'on m'explique, je comprends pas la stratégie marketing de cette marque (et ça m'énerve!)

Aber hieran kann man auch gut erkennen, wo ein großes Problem für diejenigen liegt, die sich für die Freiheit der Lebensführung einsetzen: Je weiter der Paternalismus (schönes Wort, das mir momorulez empfohlen hat - werde ich jetzt öfter verwenden!) voranschreitet, desto kleinkarierter und alberner wirkt der Widerstand gegen sein Voranschreiten. Und weil die Verbots- und Kontrollfreaks nach vielen wichtigen Punkten, an denen sie schon gesiegt haben, nun schon bei Sachen wie dem Überraschungsei angekommen sind, wirken diejenigen, die sich wehren, nunmehr schon ziemlich komisch.

I think the visualisation of conversations is really interesting and useful. A lot of companies have difficulties visualising the world of social media. So if they can see how customers/stakeholders are influenced by an array of conversations that will help them to understand the significance of the rise of social media. It would be great to be able to track how someone purchases something through their social media network ie reading reviews, comments etc.

I'm curious: do you see any difference between a virtual community or a community - and a virtual (or not) Community of practice?

Etienne has visited New Zealand several times now. For a little while there was an attitude "We have a certain kind of problem" and "A CoP is the answer" so "Please give us three communities of practice by June 1st".

Thanks for the simple yet relevant account on your personal experience.

I think what you described makes all the sense in the world. It is when we feel we need to bond with like-minded people to support our learning that it becomes relevant and we engage more. The group then transforms itself community, and those individuals with whom we collaborate become an integral part of what we are and do. I have a similar story - and in fact if it hasn't been for the web that has helped bridge such interactions I would probably be feeling I don't belong to where I am. I do need to connect to people who help me think. They contribute to my learning and help build up my confidence to do more and better.

I really love Houston, but if I could not longer drive - say, for some medical reason - I'd very much want to move back to DC.

Although I will note that Houston is more walkable than most people (including Houstonians) realize. Much of the area inside the loop was developed before everything because car-centric; from my home in the Heights I can actually walk to most of life's essentials or hop on a bus to get many other places.

I do usually drive, because it's easier, but knowing that I do not have to - and that I have options if the car is in the shop, etc. - is a pretty important quality of life issue for me. It also means that those who have less money can consider opting out of the "car tax" - all those costs of having a car.

Ce baigner nue pfiouuuuu le rêve , on se sent tellement plus libre , la sensation n'est vraiment pas la même mais les camps de naturistes pour moi c'est niet trop timide , du coup c'est les criques le soir :)

j'ai été plusieurs fois sur une plage naturiste avec un ami qui ne voulait pas aller sur une plage "normale", je n'ai jamais osé enlever le bas ! Par contre, se baigner nue dans une piscine privée oui, c'est super agréable !

Je n'ai jamais tenté, je suis plutôt pudique : même le mono, je n'ai jamais fait :) Mais c'est vrai que c'est tentant :)

Le tout nu, c'est vraiment agréable. Pour se baigner c'est le pied :D Mais même pour bronzer, la petite brise marine est fort sympathique.

Par contre, je n'aime pas les plages naturistes. Je préfère nettement : les petites criques abandonnées, la rivière dans un coin perdu, la plage loin d'une route par gros mauvais temps l'été (se baigner à poil sous l'orage, c'est génial).

Plusieurs raisons : comme décrit, la plage naturiste basique tape bien dans les 50 ans. Avec mes 25, je me sens hyper mal à l'aise et un peu trop chair fraîche.

Et puis autant j'apprécie pour moi-même, autant je déteste voir les autres nus.

Et j'aime le côté liberté du nudisme solitaire - en couple - dans des coins sauvages. Qui n'est pas mauvais pour la libido, convenons-en.

Moi je suis hyper pudique ici... Déjà qu'en maillot je me sens pour la plupart du temps à poil, je ne tenterai pas le nudisme de sitôt !

En lisant les commentaires plus haut, je suis d'aileurs en train de me dire que je suis complètement coincée ... ;-)

Oui SVP faut que ça s'arrête, mon salon de jardin a été plus souvent sous la bâche que sans et on a pu aller genre 3 fois dans la piscine en un mois, et en plus il pleut tellement qu'il faut la vider pour pas qu'elle déborde !!

@sandralou : alors, je propose petit arrêt à Bercy Village, juste à côté de Gare de Lyon, où ils pourraient prendre un p'tit gouter et faire quelques boutiques…. ensuite prise de la ligne 14 pour rejoindre Madeleine. Changement avec la ligne 12, pour Montparnasse. Là ba il y a la visite de la Tour, avec la belle vue sur Paris. Sinon, de Madeleine, ils peuvent sortir et descendre à pieds vers le jardin dess Tuilleries (Concorde) où il y a en ce moment une fête forraine et surtout ils passent devant Ladurée (rue royale), où ils peuvent se faire un ravitaillement macaron et prendre sur place un bon goûter aussi !

j'ai testé le ménage fait par quelqu'un d'autre car nous avons gagné 4h de ménage avec monop et c'était super agréable…c'est vrai que je retenterais bien l'expérience )
